Saliva microbiome in a hospitalized COVID-19 patient cohort

We enrolled 46 hospitalized COVID-19 patients and 54 control patients admitted to the hospital during April-May 2020, the height of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in New York City. We tested saliva for SARS-CoV-2 using RT-PCR and performed 16S rRNA V1-V2 sequencing to characterize the saliva microbiome in cases and controls.
