Leptospira and Bartonella in Small Mammals along the Inter-Oceanic Highway in the Southern Amazon Basin of Peru

To understand the zoonotic risk faced by the growing communities along the Inter-Oceanic Highway in the Southern Amazon Basin of Peru and the challenges of public health awareness of zoonotic diseases, we surveyed the prevalence of Leptospira and Bartonella sp. in small mammals and Leptospira-contaminated environmental sources in 4 communities along the Inter-Oceanic Highway in Madre de Dios.
