Dataset for: The Roles of Binge Gaming in Social, Academic, and Mental Health Outcomes and Gender Differences – A School-Based Survey in Hong Kong

This dataset supports the study titled “The Roles of Binge Gaming in Social, Academic, and Mental Health Outcomes and Gender Differences: A School-Based Survey in Hong Kong.” It includes anonymized responses from primary and secondary school students collected as part of a cross-sectional survey. The dataset contains variables related to gaming behavior (including whether the respondent engages in binge gaming), social support, educational efficacy, mental health indicators, and demographic characteristics, including gender. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants, including the students, with parental consent secured from their parents. The study did not contain clinical studies or patient data. The study procedures were carried out in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Ethical approval was obtained from the Survey and Behavioural Ethics Committee of the corresponding author’s university (SBRE-21-0731).
