A dataset of biomass burning emissions from multiple sources in China covering 1980 to 2024

This dataset provides monthly gridded biomass-burning emissions for China covering 1980–2024. It includes emissions of black carbon (BC), organic carbon (OC), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and carbon dioxide (CO2) from seven source categories: domestic straw burning, firewood burning, livestock-manure burning, in-field straw burning, forest fires, shrubland fires, and grassland fires. Emissions from domestic straw burning, firewood burning, livestock-manure burning, and in-field straw burning cover 1980–2024. Satellite-constrained emissions from forest, shrubland, and grassland fires cover 2001–2024. All files are provided in NetCDF (.nc) format at monthly temporal resolution on a common 1 km latitude–longitude grid using the WGS 84 coordinate reference system. The principal variable is “emission”, expressed in kg grid⁻¹ month⁻¹. File names follow the general convention: {pollutant}_{source}emission_monthly{time_range}.nc Pollutant identifiers include bc, oc, so2, co, and co2. Source identifiers include domestic_straw, firewood, livestock_manure, in_field_straw, forest, shrubland, and grassland.
