Bacterial and fungal microbiota in guinea grass silage

To clarify the bacterial and fungal microbiota associated with guinea grass ensiling at early and long storage periods. Direct-cut and wilted silages were prepared to facilitate and restrict acetic acid fermentation. Further, two levels of storage temperature were tested to see how the fermentation can be affected by a high temperature that potentially could take place in the tropics and sub-tropics. Phylogenetic gene markers for bacteria and fungi were used to identify the whole members of microbial communities.
