For information on the proper use of pre-publication data shared by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute please see http://www.sanger.ac.uk/datasharing/ The presence of a genetic cluster linked to encapsulation of Klebsiella pneumoniae is vital to the understand the role it plays in virulence and survival in other environments. In collaboration with Dick Strugnal in Australia we aim to sequence two mucoid and non-mucoid pairs of K. pneumonie isolates called B5055 and AJ218. We will use the data to see how the introduction of antibiotic resistance to generate the knockouts of the Capsule using the RED Recombinase system based upon Lambda have resulted in any previously unidentified SNPs and genetic rearrangements. The presdence of plasmids will also be studied.
