Characterization of phages by metagenomic analysis of hospital wastewater samples

The aim of this project is to investigate the metagenomic analysis of phages in hospital wastewater. The preparation of the sample for sequencing was processed by isolating phages. The method that we used facilitated extraction of only phages and as a result only phage DNA from the sample. As more than one phage DNA was sequenced the assembly of genome from the sequence obtained was done in silico. 5 metagenome-assembled phages were obtained from metagenomi data. they were named as "Uncultured_Shigella_phage_RP1", "Uncultured_Staphylococcus_phage_RP2", "Uncultured_Escherichia_phage_RP3", "Uncultured_ Pseudomonas_phage_RP4" and "Uncultured_Escherichia_phage_RP5". The phages showed homology to Shigella, Staphylococcus, Escherichia and Pseudomonas phages that are found Genbank.
