This work designed and synthesized a novel quaternary ammonium salt polymer (QAPs) with high-density adsorption sites, specifically quaternized nitrogen confirmed by FT-IR, for rapid and selective removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solutions. EDS analysis results demonstrated that the maximum exposure ratio of nitrogen on the surface of QAPs reached up to 86.1%, which is nearly twice that of Cr(VI) ion-imprinted polymer (Cr(VI)-IIP) (46.2%).
