In our study, we designed a vaccine containing a highly conserved moonlighting protein, the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex E2 subunit (PDHC), and demonstrated its potential for inducing strong protective immunity against epidemiologically relevant staphylococcal strains in various murine disease models.
