<p>This study sought to record the attitudes and behaviors of Costa Rican youth. The survey collected data on about 5,000 young Costa Ricans in 1985, with a follow-up survey of 2,000 of the same youths in 1987, and finally several smaller surveys. The surveys cover many topics, including: socio-economic characteristics, nutrition, grades, and attitude towards schooling; mass media exposure and preferences; educational and occupational aspirations and sex role attitudes; attitudes toward marriage, age at marriage, and pre-marital pregnancy; attitudes toward family size and perceptions of Costa Rican fertility and life expectancy; demographic knowledge and attitudes; attitudes toward sex, knowledge of and attitude toward family planning, and exposure to sex education; activities and popular criteria; value orientations; and personality peceptions, fatalism, relations with father, and religious and political preferences.</p>
