Temocillin Efficacy and Emergence of Resistance in Enterobacter cloacae Complex in a Murine Peritonitis Model

The aim of this work was to determine whether temocillin maymight be a possible alternative antibiotic to treat ECC infections, other than UTIs, and the potential impact of a baeS mutation on its efficacy. To answer the question, we determined temocillin efficacy and risk of resistant mutant emergence, both in vitro and in a murine model of peritonitis, against Enterobacter cloacae complex strains with or without increased efflux mediated by AcrD.
