The petrochemical industry in Brazil has maintained a negative trade balance in recent years, with imports exceeding exports. According to the most recent data available, in 2021 the sector's imports amounted to 18.53 billion U.S. dollars, while exports added up to 5.73 billion U.S. dollars. This represents a significant increase in imports from the previous year, when they amounted to 13.12 billion U.S. dollars.
