Magnetic structure of TbRhPb with distorted kagome lattice

ZrNiAl-type materials represent a large material family with distorted kagome lattice. Recently, one member in this family named HoAgGe has drawn great attentions for the realization of novel kagome spin ice state. Namely the spin configuration satisfies one-in-two-out or two-in-one-out ice rule revealed by neutron diffraction. We have successfully grown high-quality single crystals of TbRhPb which is isostructural to HoAgGe with similar Tb-based distorted kagome lattice. Our magnetization measurements on TbRhPb shows that it undergoes two antiferromagnetic transitions and the spins mainly lies in the ab-plane, resembles that of HoAgGe. Considering the same distorted kagome lattice, it would be interesting to use neutron diffraction to investigate the magnetic structure of TbRhPb and to check whether there is also a kagome spin ice state. Besides TbRhPb exhibits 1/2 and 1/3 magnetization plateaus and possible short-range magnetic order below T*=110 K. These findings have shown the necessity of performing single-crystal neutron diffraction experiments in determining the low temperature magnetic order of TbRhPb to explore novel quantum magnetic state.
