The O1 biovar El Tor Ogawa Vibrio cholerae strain V060002 was isolated in 1997 from a patient traveled to Indonesia and has been used as a model strain for studying regulatory mechanisms of chitin-induced natural transformation. The genome data demonstrated that this clinical strain has a single chromosome instead of the two chromosomes usually found in V. cholerae and other Vibrio species.
