Evidence for rapid, tidal related shifts in the microbiome of the coral Coelastrea aspera

Here we describe shifts in the microbiome of corals associated with the reef flats on Thai reefs. The shifts are hypothesised to be mainly driven by the tidal influences and associated environmental changes like increased temperatures, UV exposure etc. We also explore the variation in these shifts for two different size classes and use size as a proxy for age highlighting how different ages of corals respond to these stress events in varying ways.
