VPRS 9939 Papers of Chief General Manager re: Award Restructuring and Voluntary Redundancies

This series comprises files (and papers) containing inward and outward correspondence created or maintained by George Bate, the Chief General Manager of the State Electricity Commission of Victyoria (SECV).The files document the policy of the SEC regarding award restructuring which was to be implemented by encouraging employees in targeted groups /sections to apply for Voluntary Redundancy Packages (VDPs). The process of award restructuring was preceded by a review of the SECVs work organisation, culture and values, job design, remuneration policy, education and training, employee participation and a range of other human resource management systems, policies and practices.This process of award restructuring appears to have occurred between 1989 and 1990. The correspondence contained in these files concerns applications for VDPs from employees and the response of the SEC management to each application. Rejection of an application for a VDP by an employee often resulted in an appeal, or further inquiries about the grounds for rejection of the application, by the employee concerned.
