Pathogensis of Obstruction/Emphysema and the Microbiome in HIV Targeted Locus (Loci)

Microbial flora of the respiratory tract in persons with and without HIV. The flora is expected to play a role in HIV-associated Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We sampled the respiratory tract including oral washes (OW), induced sputum (IS), and bronchoalveolar lavages (BAL). We examined the relationship between microbial flora and smoking, HIV infection status, and COPD.
