This version was produced to facilitate testing of the RRR software (https://github.com/c-h-david/rrr). Notable details regarding this version are as follows: The GRADES discharge for large rivers remains the same, with some minor updates to file name and metadata. The groundtrack shapefiles are all the same (TOPEX-Poseidon/Jason, Sentinel 3A, Sentinel 3A&3B, ENVISAT/SARAL, SWOT nadir, SWOT swath). The GeoTIFF of global imagery for the animations was updated. The MERIT river network is the same, but the simplified river network for the animations was updated. The temporal sequences (seq_*) and the coverage shapefiles (coverage_*) of river observations based on satellite groundtracks are all the same (TOPEX-Poseidon/Jason, Sentinel 3A, Sentinel 3A&3B, ENVISAT/SARAL, SWOT nadir) except for SWOT swath which had duplicates in the last row that are now removed. The temporal sequences of river observations based on regular temporal sampling are all the same. The temporal sequences of river observations based on daily sampling along satellite groundtracks did not previously exist and were added here. The sampled discharge files (Qout_*) have the same data, but are sorted similarly to the reference discharge (Qout_GRADES_Qmean_125cms_20000101_20091231.nc) instead of sorted similarly to the temporal sequence of observations (seq_*). The sampled discharge files (Qout_SPA*) based on daily sampling along satellite groundtracks did not previously exist and were added here. All magnitude files (map_mag*) and event across threshold files (map_evt*) result from an update in the RRR software that was implemented for faster processing. The exact data in these files differ slightly from the version of record but the figures produced from them retain similar information to the published manuscript. All figures were updated. All animations were updated.
