The present disclosure relates to a method of predicting the bacterial state of a paper or board manufacturing process and/or a method of predicting the quality of a dry board or paper obtained from the process, the bacterial state of a paper or board manufacturing process or the dry state obtained from the process It relates to a method of controlling the quality of a board or paper. The surface level and duration of at least one storage tower or pulp are monitored to predict the risk of bacterial activity and are correlated with respective predetermined values for the tower or pulp. The present invention relates to a method for predicting the microbial status of a paper or board making process and/or quality of the dry board or paper obtained from said process and to a method for controlling microbial status of a paper or board making process or quality of the dry board or paper obtained from said process. Surface level and duration of time in at least one storage tower or pulper are monitored and correlated with respective predetermined values for said tower or pulper in order to predict the risk of microbial activity. The present invention relates to a method for predicting the microbial status of a paper or board making process and/or quality of the dry board or paper obtained from said process and to a method for controlling microbial status of a paper or board making process or quality of the dry board or paper obtained from said process.
