Rhythmic structure in the children’s first handwriting (2014-2016)

Data are based on an experimental study carried out with the aim of measuring the speed and length of children’s handwriting. 298 monolingual Italian-speaking recruited from different schools in the Milan and Pavia (Italy) areas were tested. They had to write the Italian word “burle” on a digitizing tablet in five conditions: spontaneous, bigger, smaller, faster and slower. Data are organised in two datasets: the first (Word) includes measurements related to the word as a whole (length, handwriting duration, mean velocity, etc.); the second (Letter) includes single letter duration in the different conditions under which children have been tested.
