We investigated the zoonotic pathogen Streptococcus suis from healthy chickens and from in-contact pigs in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. S. suis was isolated from 34% chicken flocks, and formed a distinct genotypic cluster, suggesting that chickens may be a potential source of S. suis to humans.
