The NEKSUS Study aims to provide additional genomic characterisation of bloodstream infection (BSI) isolates and Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) positive rectal screens, which are collected and reported by NHS laboratories as part of the existing UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) mandatory surveillance programme. The NEKSUS consortium comprises microbiological laboratories form nine acute NHS hospitals representing all seven NHS England regions, as well as collaborators from the UKHSA. This study/research is supported/funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (NIHR200915), a partnership between the UKHSA and the University of Oxford.
