资源简介:
The experiment consisted of two profiles: an east-west refraction/reflection profile crossing the Dead Sea transform fault at the northern end of the Sea of Galilee, and a north-south profile along the axis of the transform fault. Twelve shots of 300-400 kg detonated at ~17 m depth were recorded by 512 Texans placed 200 m apart, and by 40 modified Texans deployed 0.5 km apart on the Sea of Galilee. Texans deployed in the lake were enclosed in flotation devices and the geophones were replaced by hydrophones. The purpose of the east-west line was to image a major continental transform plate boundary separating distinct crustal and lithospheric blocks. The purpose of the north-south profile was to define the geometry of deep pull-apart basins. The work has implications to processes of continental crust deformation and to seismic hazard.
