The oral-gut axis: within-host evolution of streptococci

The human body is colonised by complex microbial communities, which vary in composition among different body sites. Previous studies have described the composition and dynamics of the human oral and gut bacterial community and their crucial role in human health and disease. This study aim to investigate the within-host evolution and adaptation of oral streptococci in the intestinal habitat.
