Metavirome sampled from a copper-rich site in the Namib desert

Rock and soil samples were collected at a copper deposit in the Namib Desert in April 2013, sample processing was according to previously published methodologies with minor modifications (Adriaenssens et al., 2014). The 13.8M raw reads (6.9M read pairs) were filtered for 1) duplicates, 2) PhiX-174, 3) reads matching the human genome (Hg19; http://tinyurl.com/jay436s), resulting in ~6.9M quality filtered reads. The dataset contains reads matching viral and non-viral DNA.
