This dataset comprises experimental results from a well-known test campaign carried out at the Kawashima Lab at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in the late 1990s. Several tests were conducted to investigate the impacts of various properties on the cyclic behaviour of reinforced concrete bridge piers. These included tests on specimens of varying design and reinforcement configurations. Test specimens were tested under different loading hystereses, while others explored the effects of oval sections, confinement via interlocking hoops, and longitudinal reinforcement on plastic hinge length. Additional tests assessed unbonded reinforcements, high damping rubber bearings, carbon fiber retrofitting, and aspect ratios. The dataset also includes results from tests on seismic performance under varying axial forces and bidirectional flexural loading, as well as specimens with rubber in the plastic hinge region, and spiral confinement zones. A combination of hybrid loading tests and seismic performance evaluations were conducted on both solid and hollow sections, including those with prestressed tendons and lateral confinement. The comprehensive nature of this dataset makes it valuable for understanding the complex behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers under various cyclic loading conditions.
