Multi-locus metabarcoding of ballast water samples collected from a single vessel

Water from the ballast water tank of a vessel arriving at the Valdez Marine Terminal in Alaska was collected and filtered. DNA was extracted from filters and two regions of the 18S rRNA gene and one region of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene were amplified. 2x300 paired-end Illumina MiSeq sequencing was conducted.
