资源简介:
The barnacle Balanus improvisus is a common species in biofouling communities along temperate waters. The barnacle cyprid larva displays a complex exploratory behaviour prior to selection of a suitable settlement site demonstrating clear preferences for some types of surfaces. However, there is a lack of knowledge on molecular mechanisms underlying the settlement behaviour. We performed deep RNA-sequencing to compare transcriptome profiles from four different stages along the settlement process, namely free-swimming, close-search, attached cyprids and early juveniles. This study provides new insights into mechanisms of barnacle settlement and creates a basis for designing new targets for antifouling research.
