We have identified a compound, Tartrolon E, that is highly active against multiple apicomplexan parasites. In order to identify the mechanism of action of this compound we infected human forskin fibroblast cells with RH strain T. gondii for 24 hours, at which time we treated the infected cells with 0 (DMSO vehicle control), 5 or 20 ng/ml of Tartrolon E. 4, 8 or 12 hours post treatment, cells were lysed with RNA later and processed for RNAseq analysis. The transcriptome was compared between treated and control parasites over time to identify transcripts that were differentilly expressed.
