Short-term acute thermal stress assays using the Coral Bleacing Automated Stress System (CBASS) were used to assay standardized temperature tolerances (ED50s) of Pocillopora verrucosa, Porites sp., and Diploastrea sp. (Voolstra et al. 2020; Evensen et al. 2023; Voolstra et al. 2025; Iakovleva et al. 2024). P. verrucosa and Porites sp. samples were collected at 2 depths (shallow ≤ 4 m and deep ≥ 8m) to assess putative ED50 differences with depth. Diploastrea sp. samples were collected at depths ≥ 7.5m. In addition, benthic reef surveys were conducted following a previously published protocol (Colin et al. 2024) using CoralNet (Beijbom et al. 2015). Benthic reef survey data is available at https://coralnet.ucsd.edu/source/5984/.  A pilot CBASS run using samples from P. verrucosa and Porites sp. was condcuted to assess optimal CBASS heat-hold temperatures.
