This dataset is part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Program. It provides weekly 100-kilometer Northern Hemisphere snow cover extent, represented by three distinct variables. Two of these variables are derived from single-source products: the NOAA/NCDC Northern Hemisphere Snow Cover Climate Data Record and the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) passive microwave brightness temperature. The third variable combines the other two variables into a single representation of snow cover.
