资源简介:

Data from: "Follow the wobble: Statistical methods to detect astrometric binary asteroids in Gaia FPR" Liberato et al., Astronomy & Astrophysics, 2026. Accepted https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2605.22702 This repository contains three catalogues produced by a statistical search for astrometric binary asteroids in the Gaia Focused Product Release (FPR) data, covering ~152,000 asteroids over 66 months of observations. Our method detects periodic variations (wobbles) in the along-scan astrometric residuals using the Generalised Lomb-Scargle Periodogram, a refined noise model, a false discovery rate (FDR) controlled selection procedure, and a physical validation step to obtain the list of 343 binary asteroid candidates. Files: FPR_343_binary_candidates_Zenodo.csv — Parameters for the 343 astrometric binary asteroid candidates (410 windows of consecutive observations) surviving both statistical and physical validation. NB: We have updated the order of column names for "s1_min" and "s1_max". FPR_Double_Trendy_zenodo.csv — List of 45 objects for which more than one observation window shows a significant linear trend in the astrometric residuals, suggestive of wide binary systems with periods exceeding the search window. Period_search_output_60k_WOs.csv — Full period search output for all ~60,000 windows of observations from the ~48,000 objects with Gaia FPR data with at least 10 transits in a 10-day window. Disclaimer: This file contains the results for all the data exploited, where the majority of the results come from data with no real wobble, i.e. NOT BINARIES. Periodograms shall always find periods, no matter the input. The statistical tests described in Liberato et al. (2026) are the tools used to assess the significance of the period detections that lead to the list of 343 binary candidates. The p-value ("MC_pval" column) indicates how likely it is for a noise-only sample to lead to a similar GLSP result. The larger the p-value, the less meaningful the detection. Use this table with discretion. These targets are valuable for follow-up confirmation. For the stellar occultation campaigns, please check https://gaiamoons.imcce.fr/.
