Impact of corticosteroids on mouse gene expression during experimental meningococcal sepsis

The use of corticosteroids in the treatment of invasive meningococcal disease is till debated. We have previously shown that the adjunction of dexamethasone to antibiotic treatment significantly improved the clinical outcome of experimentally infected mice that was directly linked to a modulation of the inflammatory response. However, the mechanism of the positive effect of dexamethasone is still to be defined. We used transcriptomic approach to define the differentially expression of genes under antibiotic-dexamethasone treatment.
