De-identified dataset: Determinants of Inappropriate Orthopedic Consultations in the Emergency Department (retrospective cohort, n=27,199)

De-identified data supporting the retrospective cohort study "Determinants of Inappropriate Orthopedic Consultations in the Emergency Department: A Retrospective Cohort Study of 27,199 Trauma Patients." Consecutive trauma patients referred for orthopedic consultation at a tertiary emergency department (Istanbul Medeniyet University Göztepe Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital) between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024. A consultation was classified as inappropriate when no specialist-level orthopedic intervention was performed. The cohort comprises 27,199 encounters (22,936 appropriate and 4,263 inappropriate consultations). The dataset contains no direct identifiers; the exact arrival timestamp was removed to prevent re-identification. Variable definitions and coding are in README.md and codebook.csv. Approved by the institutional Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee (Approval No: 2025-GOSEK-0215).
