A SENSITIVE SEARCH FOR PULSATIONS IN SGR 1627-41

SGR 162741 is the only confirmed Soft Gammaray Repeater with a brightpersistent Xray counterpart for which a rotational period has not yet beenfound. Only the high throughput of the EPIC/XMM instrument can provide thesensitivity to detect a periodicity down to a modulation level of a few percent.Timing information is a crucial element to study the physics of SGRs, isolatedneutron stars with supercritical magnetic fields.
