IS THE X-RAY EMISSION FROM THE CTTS XZ TAU ACCRETION DRIVEN

In order to address the question of the origin of Xray emission in Classical TTauri stars we propose an XMMNewton observation of XZ Tau. We propose tomonitor the source over 6 days to follow the variation of hydrogen columndensity in front of the star, over two rotational periods of the star. This willallow a rotational modulation of the hydrogen column density to be detected, ifpresent, and therefore unambiguously identify the existence on XZ Tau of acorotating accretion stream shadowing an Xray bright hot spot.
