Autostereotype and heterostereotype of German school children in
Cologne junior high schools.
Topics: except for minimal differences (for example the question about
Turkish language proficiency) the questionnaire is identical to the
questionnaire described under ZA Study No. 1377.
Beyond these comparable questions some further questions were posed:
contacts with Turkish classmates; assumed concept of Turkish classmates
about desired frequency of contact with Germans; contacts with the
parents of Turkish classmates; communication problems; perceived
disturbance from classmates speaking Turkish among themselves; help in
learning German; doing homework together; assumption about the housing
situation preferred by Turkish classmates, measured on proportion of
foreigners in an apartment house; perceived similarity or difference in
behavior of Turkish classmates from behavior of Germans; interest in a
trip to Turkey; presence of Turkish colleagues with parents; attitude
to Turkish classmates remaining in the Federal Republic.
Demography: age (classified); sex; nationality; marital status; family
composition; number of siblings; age of father or mother (classified);
occupational position of father; employment of mother.
Also encoded was (filled out by interviewer): date; school form; year
of school; preparation class; number of schoolchildren in the class;
number of Turkish schoolchildren in the class; other foreign
schoolchildren in the class; part of town in Cologne in which the
school is.
