Transcription factors and chromatin regulators orchestrate the processes of heart development by positively and negatively regulating thousands of genes. Mutations in transcription factors and chromatin regulators cause congenital heart disease (CHDs) by disrupting gene expression profiles that are tightly regulated by transcription factor networks. However, the mechanism by which transcription factor deficiency causes CHD is not fully understood. In this study, we determined the genome-wide occupancy of transcription factors critical for heart development and the factors associated with these transcription factors, as well as the histone modification signatures in embryonic hearts.
