Streptococcus pneumoniae SP14-BS69. This serotype 14 strain is a low-passage isolate from the nasopharynx of a child who came down with pneumonia after participating in a Fluzone® vaccine trial at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (Shen et al., 2006, Infect. Immun. 74:321-330). Sequenced and assembled using technology developed by 454 Life Sciences, Inc. supplemented with double-barreled Sanger dideoxy sequencing read data from traditional clone libraries.
