Analysis of a C-130 Before and After Decontamination

A C-130 aircraft was sampled prior to, and after, a whole aircraft hot, humid air decontamination to assess the viability of the method in removing the resident microbiota. Small subunit rRNA gene sequencing was employed to investigate the Bacterial, Archaeal, and Eukaryotic microbial community. In addition ATP measurements and swabs for cultivation were also taken across the air frame to complement the SSU rRNA Gene Survey.
