m6Am RNA methylation enzyme PCIF1 restricts HIV infection and is degraded by viral Vpr protein

To identify m6Am genes that are responsible for HIV inhibition, MeRIP-seq was performed in control and PCIF1 KO T cells infected with HIV. Control or PCIF1 KO Jurkat cells were mock treated or infected with HIV LAI strain at an MOI of 4 for 3 days. Change of RNA methylation states was detected by MeRIP-seq. m6Am genes were identified as 5'UTR methylated peaks that are depleted in PCIF1 cells
