Bank of Data – Patent Filings by Brazilian Universities: Motivations and Determinants of Co-Ownership, Funding, and Scientific Output (2020–2024)

This project provides the consolidated database of patent filings by Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for the period 2020–2024. The dataset includes reconciled institutional identifiers, standardized variables, and consistency-check columns that ensure full traceability across data sources.

In addition to the final consolidated dataset used in the published article, the repository also contains preliminary versions of the data, exploratory analyses, and SPSS outputs that were part of earlier stages of the research but were not included in the final publication. These materials are provided to strengthen methodological transparency and to document the analytical evolution of the study.

The repository includes the Python scripts used for automated extraction of RPI/INPI patent data and for key steps of data processing and filtering. These scripts allow full replication of the collection procedure, enhancing the reproducibility of the research. Intermediate tables generated before the final harmonization stage are also included to support verification of methodological choices.

Together, these resources ensure transparency, auditability, and replicability of the dataset and analytical procedures described in the article.
