资源简介:
This Numeric Data Package (NDP) contains a digital database that
describes the U.S. Gulf Coast. The database integrates point, line,
and polygon data for the U.S. Gulf Coast into 0.25 latitude by 0.25
longitude grid cells and into 1:2,000,000 digitized line segments that
can be used by raster or vector geographic information systems (GIS)
as well as non-GIS database systems. Each coastal grid cell and/or
line segment contains data on elevation, geology, geomorphology,
sea-level trends, shoreline displacement (erosion/accretion), tidal
range, and wave heights. The database identifies seven of 22 variables
as relative-risk variables to assess coastal vulnerability. The data
can be used to create a coastal vulnerability index for each grid cell
and/or line segment. The database and corresponding coastal
vulnerability indices may be used to identify coastal zones that are
at risk from coastal erosion or possible changes in sea level. The
data are contained in five groups, available as ARC/INFO export files
and as flat ASCII files for a total of 10 files, each less than 2 MB.
This NDP is related to NDP-043A "Coastal Hazards Data Base for the
U.S. East Coast" submitted by the same investigators as NDP-043B.
All CDIAC numerical data packages include copies of pertinent literature
discussing the data, summaries discussing the background, source and scope of
the data, as well as applications, limitations and restrictions of the data.
