VPRS 12999 General Correspondence Files, Multiple Number System

This series constituted the general correspondence files created and maintained by the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop Authority VA 2987, Metropolitan Transit Authority VA 1044 and the Public Transport Corporation VA 2984. The Authority was responsible for supervising and co-ordinating the planning, financing and construction of the Melbourne rail loop. Prior to the establishment of the Authority, considerable planning for the loop was carried out by the Railway Construction Board VA 691.
