An oligotrophic bacterium, strain CCI9 was isolated from leaf soil collected in Japan. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain CCI9 was identified as Enterobacter sp. CCI9. Moreover, we determined a draft genome sequence of Enterobacter sp. CCI9, which consists of a total of 32 contigs containing 4,657,716 bp with a GC content of 56.1% and comprises 4,329 predicted coding sequences. Multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) based on the atpD, gyrB, infB and rpoB gene sequences revealed that Enterobacter sp. CCI9 was tightly clustered with Enterobacter roggenkampii EN-117T. The genome average nucleotide identity values between Enterobacter sp. CCI9 and E. roggenkampii EN-117T was clearly greater than the cutoff value for prokaryotic subspecies delineation. Thus, Enterobacter sp. CCI9 was identified as E. roggenkampii CCI9.
