This dataset accompanies the research paper “Remote Sensing of Dynamic Ground Motion via a Moiré-Based Apparatus.” It contains experimental data captured during on-site and indooe measurements used to evaluate a Moiré-based optical sensing system for remote monitoring of dynamic ground displacement. The dataset includes raw image sequences of distorted gratings, generated Moiré fringe patterns, and the corresponding extracted displacement signals. Measurements were conducted under controlled indoor conditions and outdoor field environments to validate the system’s performance under real-world factors such as atmospheric turbulence, wind, and environmental variability. The experiments include square-wave displacement signals applied to the grating target. The dataset is primarily composed of .avi video files captured by a camera attached to the telescope at various distances and under different experimental scenarios. These recordings include measurements obtained under both indoor and outdoor conditions, covering multiple displacement types and environmental variability. The data are organized based on experimental condition, displacement waveform, and system configuration. Due to data size limitations, representative realizations and the main processing workflow are provided. Additional recordings and extended datasets can be made available upon reasonable request. This dataset is intended for researchers in optical metrology, remote sensing, computational imaging, and seismic monitoring who are interested in Moiré-based sensing and long-range, non-contact displacement measurement.
