Vote share of eurosceptic parties in the national elections within the EU 2000-2022

The vote share of eurosceptic parties in national elections has risen across Europe since the turn of the millennium. Following the onset of the Eurozone crisis in the early 2010s, eurosceptic parties saw a surge in support, rising from 12.6 percent of all votes cast in national parliamentary elections in 2012 to consistently over 20 percent after 2013. This trend of rising Euroscepticism has continued into the 2020s, as the share of all eurosceptic parties reached a new high of 27.2 percent in 2022, although this was made up of only 13.7 percent hardline eurosceptic parties - that is, parties that outright state they would want their country to leave the EU or to dismantle the EU in its current form.
