资源简介:
Newly admitted students into 100Level of Elizade University, Nigeria in 2017/2018 academic session took the survey after successfully completing a full semester in Use of Library and Information Literacy course. The freshmen were largely male by gender and a majority of the respondents came from the faculties of Social and Management Sciences and Law. Their proficiency in computing devices such as laptop, desktop, smartphones and tablets were examined. The data show high proficiency in all except tablets. Laptop was indicated as the most suitable tool for their academic work. Given the option to combine devices, the data show that, they will prefer laptop/smartphone than anything else. Concerning ICT skills they currently possess, coding/programming lagged least. They are, however, hopeful, among any other skill, to improve proficiency in web design/development before graduation. If there is any unit of the university such as library, programme departments, ICT unit and others that can enhance their skills, the data show that, the ICT unit is thought to be the university arm that will contribute significantly to the students' ICT skills during their university years.
