"Typical village scene (Kityang valley). Time of rice harvest, fresh grain spread out in villages to dry in open court spaces or streets. Men are in the fields cutting the grain, women taking care of it here. Picture taken thru [sic] broken wall, relic of great typhoon, 1922. Big hats give protection from sun and rain alike. Garments in upper foreground have been washed and are hanging to dry in customary matter-strung on bamboo pole -- no clothespins needed!" A street in a village, clothes hung on a line between two buildings, people going about their lives on the street.
