CADDIWA-2021 : Cloud in situ 1Hz data from 2D-S probe
收藏资源简介:
The 2D-S cloud microphysics dataset contains in situ measurements collected during CADDIWA field campaign along the SAFIRE F20 flight track with a 2D-Stereo probe (2D-S). The 2D-S (an instrument of the PMA plateform) was installed on a pod underneath the F20 starboard wing (outer position). The 2D-S is an Optical Array Probe that images cloud particles, either droplets or ice particles, in the 10-1280 µm size range (nominal, extended to 2.56 mm in post-processing). The silhouette of each particle crossing the sample area (laser sheet) is projected onto a linear array of 128 photodiodes with a resolution of 10 µm and then recorded as a black and white image by the probe. The counting and retrieval of particles' geometrical descriptors (size, area, perimeter, ...) from the 2D images is done in post-processing, once most artifacts are corrected (noisy pixel and shattering/splashing event removal, size correction for out-of-focus particles : see process level description field). Data acquisition was synchronized with the F20 GPS clock and the data is geolocalized using aircraft position. The dataset contains one file per flight, 9 files in total.
